Have you noticed all of the fun and exciting “personnel” changes here at the Classic? If you haven’t, we are thrilled to share the news with you!

Beginning in Golf Services, we are excited to announce that Sam Cresta has been promoted to Head Golf Professional. Sam has been dedicated and passionate about golf for years now, and his hard work has led to many happy golfers both on and off the course. Even as we head into the “off-season” of golf, we highly recommend scheduling a lesson with Sam today to clean up or improve any aspect of your golf game. After all, Sam is the man!

Have you noticed the new menu items? The boneless wings, mozzarella sticks, specialty wraps & salads, and top tier house burgers? If so, they have been prepared by the magnificent Meghan Foxx. Meghan joined the ACGC team back in September as the Cafe Manager and has been on a tear ever since. So if you want to try a new place for lunch or grab a bite to eat after your next round, stop by the Classic Rock Cafe to enjoy some scrumptious foods. You won’t leave hungry!

Oh what a warm and hot season it was here in Delaware. After a very challenging summer and unfortunate luck with lightning, Brandon Hammond has been leading the charge to get the golf course back to tip top shape. The greens are healed, rolling true and ready for play! Have you seen how beautiful the fairways are? With plans to reseed and re-sod the tee boxes by the end of November, your beloved ACGC will be ESPN ready once again. Let’s go Brandon!

Other than a hole-in-one, is there anything better than the post round beer or cocktail? If you agree, we highly suggest that you stop by the Classic Rock Bar for a drink with our customer favorite, Shannon Foster! Shannon has been killing it in the bar all summer long, and has been promoted to Bar Manager. She likes to take long walks on the beach, hangout with her friends, and go to rock shows, but you can learn more by kicking it with her after your golf round or for beer thirty.

This year, the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) and PGA Show held their golf conferences at the end of January in Orlando, Florida. With having big goals for the 2020 season here at American Classic, some of the staff members were able to take the trip down. The NGCOA allows golf course owners from all around the world to share creative ideas together to help grow the game that we all love so much. Then from the PGA Show, everyone is able to see the technological advances in golf and how golf brands plan to move forward with their clubs, clothing, and other golfing equipment.

The first couple of days were dedicated to the NGCOA Conference. At this conference, you get to meet other golf course owners from all around the world, and engage with one another on things that you have success with at your course as well as things you would like to improve upon. It is a wonderful experience to be able to talk with someone from another country or somewhere else in the United States and learn how they are creating a fun environment for golfers in their area. During the conference, you also get to listen to several guest speakers who go into great detail on things that you can improve on at your golf course. After two full days of listening to innovative ideas and creating some of our own, we are excited to say that we have some fun things planned for everyone here at the Classic.

Once the NGCOA Conference wrapped up, the staff moved its focus to the PGA Show. We all agreed that this was a fun experience since we got to see some of the new technology and designs that well known golf brands are going to be releasing this year.

Not only are well known brands such as Callaway, Cobra, Ping, etc. doing fun things for golf, but there were thousands of smaller businesses with some creative ideas and branding. Because of our time spent at the show, Austin is excited to announce that he will be incorporating more technology into his lessons and clinics, and Britt is planning on bringing in some new brands and designs into the pro shop.

The American Classic team had a wonderful time at both events, and learned a lot about the golf industry. Our goal is to always have our golfers enjoy their time when they visit us, and everything we learned from this trip will definitely enhance your experience here at the Classic. We hope that you’re just as excited as we are!
